R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, First Lieutenant Clinton L. Eubanks is rendering |
|
outstanding service to this country as a member of the United States |
|
Marine Corps; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on August 8, 1979, |
|
Lieutenant Eubanks has called Houston home since 1983; he graduated |
|
in 1998 from Westfield High School, where he was a National Merit |
|
Scholar and a member of the band, and in 2002 he received a degree in |
|
chemical engineering from Texas A&M University; for the next three |
|
years, he worked as a research and development project manager with |
|
Frito-Lay, and he is credited with a patent for an invention he |
|
developed during that period; and |
|
WHEREAS, After joining the marines in 2006, Lieutenant |
|
Eubanks attended Officer Candidate School and then completed the |
|
marine officers' Basic School and Infantry Course; in the fall of |
|
2007, he was assigned to Bravo Company of the 1st Battalion, 3rd |
|
Marine Regiment, which is based in Hawaii; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deployed to Iraq in August 2008, Lieutenant Eubanks |
|
served as a platoon commander northwest of Baghdad, in Al Anbar |
|
Province; over the course of that deployment, he and his unit |
|
conducted operations with and mentored different elements of the |
|
Iraqi security forces; he also devoted a significant portion of his |
|
time to a variety of critical infrastructure projects, such as the |
|
renovation of schools and water purification plants and the |
|
construction of a new medical facility; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Eubanks and his battalion returned to the |
|
States in March 2009 and are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan this |
|
coming fall; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Lieutenant Eubanks |
|
participated in the High School Praise Band at Champion Forest |
|
Baptist Church in Houston and the College Praise Band at Central |
|
Baptist Church in Bryan; he is the son of BJ and Phil Eubanks and the |
|
brother of Travis Eubanks, who take great pride in all his |
|
accomplishments; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his bravery, professionalism, and devotion |
|
to duty, Lieutenant Eubanks embodies the highest values of the |
|
United States Marine Corps, and he is indeed deserving of his fellow |
|
citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend First Lieutenant Clinton L. Eubanks for |
|
his exemplary service in this country's behalf and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Lieutenant Eubanks as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
