R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, October 19, 2007, marked the 50th wedding |
|
anniversary of Dolly and Rayford Calhoun of Midland, providing a |
|
fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey together |
|
as husband and wife; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Calhoun and the former Dolly Williamson were |
|
joined in matrimony in 1957 at a ceremony held at Greenwood Baptist |
|
Church; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured |
|
family that includes three children, Victoria Calhoun, Rainy |
|
Walker, and Christi Franklin, as well as five grandchildren and two |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mrs. Calhoun |
|
has been employed as a bookkeeper and mortgage loan officer while |
|
Mr. Calhoun has enjoyed a diverse career that has included work as |
|
an electrician, machine tool operator, engineering technician, and |
|
farmer; they are both valued members of First United Methodist |
|
Church and the High Sky Squares dance club; in addition, Mrs. |
|
Calhoun is a Scarborough/Linebery House docent and a member of the |
|
Midland Quilters Guild, and Mr. Calhoun is involved with several |
|
team roping associations; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dedicated husband and wife have shared five |
|
decades of abiding love and affection with one another, and they are |
|
among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a |
|
lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dolly and Rayford Calhoun on their |
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
