R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
|
and shared experiences, and Gene and Virginia Carter of Midland |
|
|
observed this joyous milestone in their marriage on June 1, 2007; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Carter and the former Virginia Orr were joined |
|
|
in matrimony in 1947, at a ceremony held in Graham; through the |
|
|
years they have been blessed with two daughters, Diane Upchurch and |
|
|
Debi Helwig, as well as three grandchildren and four |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and Mrs. |
|
|
Carter have both worked in the oil industry; the couple also |
|
|
participate in the life of First Baptist Church, where they are |
|
|
valued congregants; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Carter have enjoyed six decades of love |
|
|
and affection for one another, and they are among an exceptional |
|
|
group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gene and Virginia Carter on their |
|
|
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Carter as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
