R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
|
and shared experiences, and B. Oliver and Mary Louise Wood |
|
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on July 7, 2007; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Wood were joined in matrimony in 1942 in |
|
|
a ceremony held at Harlandale Presbyterian Church in San Antonio; |
|
|
through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family |
|
|
that includes their three sons, Gerald Don Wood, John Eugene Wood, |
|
|
and Bertram Oliver Wood III, as well as four grandchildren and four |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Former longtime residents of Midland, Mr. and |
|
|
Mrs. Wood have also lived in Monahans, San Angelo, and Wilmington, |
|
|
Delaware; Mr. Wood is retired from a notable career in oil drilling |
|
|
and recovery in which he served as a partner in Wood, McShane, and |
|
|
Thams; the couple are faithful congregants of First Presbyterian |
|
|
Church and active in their local Kiwanis club; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Wood have enjoyed more than 6-1/2 |
|
|
decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are |
|
|
among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a |
|
|
lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate B. Oliver and Mary Louise Wood on |
|
|
their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wood as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
