R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, March 26, 2009, is Women in Longview Day, and this |
|
|
event offers area residents the opportunity to network with each |
|
|
other in an informative and spirited forum; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Featuring seminars and exhibits, a style show, and a |
|
|
keynote address by the Honorable Brenda Cole, the Women in Longview |
|
|
Day celebration includes programs that address individual, social, |
|
|
and economic issues and interests; moreover, four $1,000 |
|
|
scholarships are being awarded to deserving young students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, "Dawn of a New Day: Possibilities Unlimited" is the |
|
|
theme of this special day; in addition to focusing on improving the |
|
|
status of Longview area women, this event promotes the observance |
|
|
of March as National Women's History Month, and all citizens are |
|
|
encouraged to applaud the myriad ways in which women have made a |
|
|
difference in their community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This annual event celebrates the achievements and |
|
|
diversity of Longview's outstanding women, and it is indeed a |
|
|
pleasure to honor these remarkable Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 26, 2009, as Women in Longview |
|
|
Day and extend sincere best wishes to all concerned for a meaningful |
|
|
and memorable celebration. |
