R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Robinson High School Rockets girls' basketball
  team won the 2009 University Interscholastic League 3A state
  championship with a dominating 49-33 victory over Argyle High
  School on March 7 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, In capturing the second state crown in school
  history, the Rockets controlled the contest from start to finish,
  scoring the game's first nine points and maintaining a double-digit
  advantage from the first quarter on; Rachel Hargis contributed 20
  points, 13 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots to earn most valuable
  player honors for the title game; and
         WHEREAS, Completing their championship journey with a season
  record of 34 wins and just 5 defeats, the Robinson High players
  bested the state's two top-ranked teams during their march through
  the playoffs; their triumphs were made possible through a total
  team effort that included valuable contributions from Ms. Hargis
  and each member of the Robinson squad: Shanna Brown, Hannah Abbe,
  Makenzy Antis, Mackenzie Roach, Kristin Light, Alex Alexander,
  Aaron Sulak, Haley Weaver, Molly Cooper, Ashley James, and Kayla
  Hines; and
         WHEREAS, Skillfully guided by head coach Brenda Gomez, the
  Rockets also received vital support from assistant coaches Kelly
  Nunn and Bradley Marek, athletic director Brian Lewis, principal
  Jeanie Johnson, and superintendent Michael Hope; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship requires countless
  hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and
  the memories of this outstanding achievement will remain with these
  talented student-athletes for the rest of their lives; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Robinson High School Rockets
  girls' basketball team on winning the 2009 UIL 3A state
  championship and extend sincere best wishes to the players,
  coaches, and staff for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
