R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards strives to |
|
protect the youth of our state from abuse and neglect; and |
|
WHEREAS, Composed of court-appointed volunteers, the council |
|
coordinates state and local child welfare services in an effort to |
|
promote the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and |
|
families throughout Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Members work at a grassroots level to develop |
|
programs that meet the needs of the community; filling gaps in state |
|
services, county boards raise more than $20 million annually in an |
|
effort to provide clothing, school supplies, birthday and holiday |
|
gifts, and other special needs for foster children; and |
|
WHEREAS, Supporting more than 200 county child welfare |
|
boards, the group provides training materials and maintains a |
|
website to facilitate advocacy and information-sharing; and |
|
WHEREAS, All Texans benefit from the critical services |
|
provided by the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards, whose work |
|
ensures that a most vulnerable segment of our society is not |
|
forgotten; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards |
|
for its service to young people in need and extend to all those |
|
associated with the group sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
with their important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
