R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Since 1996, Rowlett High School has provided
  students of the Garland Independent School District with a
  well-rounded academic program and ample opportunities to develop
  their individual skills and talents; and
         WHEREAS, Located in the city of Rowlett, this notable
  institution is one of seven high schools in Garland ISD, which is
  the second largest public school district in Dallas County; the
  Rowlett High School campus sits on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in
  an area encompassing northeastern Dallas County and western
  Rockwall County; serving a population of 2,700 youth, the school is
  skillfully led by its principal, Dr. Marlene Hammerle, and it seeks
  to fulfill its mission to give its students a solid foundation in
  academics, citizenship, service, and character development; and
         WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of its students and faculty
  have earned Rowlett High School numerous accolades, including Gold
  Performance Acknowledgement Awards in mathematics, social studies,
  and comparable improvement, as well as the highest attendance award
  in Garland ISD for the past 10 years; in addition, the school earned
  a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education Agency in 2008, and
  for its advanced placement scores, it was named one of the top 1,000
  high schools in the country by Newsweek magazine; and
         WHEREAS, Rowlett High School continues to create an
  environment that promotes learning and personal growth, and its
  commitment to high quality education is helping to secure a bright
  future for many young Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Rowlett High School for its many
  achievements and extend sincere best wishes for continued success
  to its students, faculty, administrators, and staff; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
