R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A quality education is the foundation of future
  success, and Liberty Junior High School in Dallas provides students
  of the Richardson Independent School District with a well-rounded
  academic curriculum and opportunities to develop their individual
  skills and talents; and
         WHEREAS, Serving youth in grades seven and eight, Liberty has
  an enrollment of approximately 600 students who reflect the rich
  ethnic and cultural diversity of their community; many of their
  parents make valuable contributions to the school by volunteering
  in the office, library, clinic, at extracurricular functions, and
  as members of the Parent Teacher Association; and
         WHEREAS, Students at Liberty receive rigorous instruction in
  reading, math, writing, science, social studies, and other academic
  disciplines; they also may enhance their learning experience by
  taking part in such activities as Spanish Club, the Invention
  Convention, and Odyssey of the Mind; the school has distinguished
  itself in athletics, with the eighth grade boys' basketball team
  recently winning the district tournament and the seventh grade
  girls' basketball team entering the tournament undefeated; and
         WHEREAS, In December 2008, a group of Liberty pupils
  participated in a robot-building workshop at the Erik Jonsson
  School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of
  Texas at Dallas; members of the Care Club give back to their
  community by tutoring younger, immigrant children from a
  neighboring elementary school, working with them on reading skills
  and serving as role models; and
         WHEREAS, Principal Stephen Quisenberry leads an
  exceptionally dedicated faculty and staff; their deep commitment to
  the academic progress and intellectual development of young Texans
  encourages the students of Liberty Junior High to work diligently
  toward becoming productive, successful citizens of the Lone Star
  State, and all those associated with the school may indeed take
  pride in this fine institution; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Liberty Junior High School for its
  contributions to the community and extend to its students,
  teachers, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
