R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Guy H. Bullock Elementary School in Garland was |
|
|
awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from |
|
|
the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an |
|
|
accountability rating system for the state's public schools and |
|
|
districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if at least 75 |
|
|
percent of its students pass each of the Texas Assessment of |
|
|
Knowledge and Skills subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 |
|
|
percent of all schools earned this distinction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1962, Bullock Elementary today has an |
|
|
enrollment of approximately 530 students; its many programs include |
|
|
full-day kindergarten, bilingual and ESL classes for |
|
|
prekindergarten through grade five, and Learning in a Functional |
|
|
Environment classes for special education students; principal |
|
|
Linda Sires leads the faculty and staff in helping children to |
|
|
realize the goals outlined in the mission statement, "Believing in |
|
|
yourself, Utilizing your talents, Looking to the future, Learning |
|
|
for life, Outstanding citizenship, Choosing success, and Kids + |
|
|
Parents + Teachers = Excellence in Education"; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Bullock Elementary |
|
|
School have demonstrated outstanding dedication and perseverance |
|
|
in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may indeed take |
|
|
justifiable pride in the accolade their school has received from |
|
|
the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Guy H. Bullock Elementary School on its |
|
|
achievement of a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education |
|
|
Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
