R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Guy H. Bullock Elementary School in Garland was
  awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008;
  and
         WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from
  the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an
  accountability rating system for the state's public schools and
  districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if at least 75
  percent of its students pass each of the Texas Assessment of
  Knowledge and Skills subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34
  percent of all schools earned this distinction; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1962, Bullock Elementary today has an
  enrollment of approximately 530 students; its many programs include
  full-day kindergarten, bilingual and ESL classes for
  prekindergarten through grade five, and Learning in a Functional
  Environment classes for special education students; principal
  Linda Sires leads the faculty and staff in helping children to
  realize the goals outlined in the mission statement, "Believing in
  yourself, Utilizing your talents, Looking to the future, Learning
  for life, Outstanding citizenship, Choosing success, and Kids +
  Parents + Teachers = Excellence in Education"; and
         WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Bullock Elementary
  School have demonstrated outstanding dedication and perseverance
  in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may indeed take
  justifiable pride in the accolade their school has received from
  the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Guy H. Bullock Elementary School on its
  achievement of a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education
  Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
