R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sally Van Dyke has been named 2008 Woman of the Year |
|
|
by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development |
|
|
Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Woman of the Year award was created in 1968 to |
|
|
honor Washington County citizens who have made significant |
|
|
contributions to their community, and Ms. Van Dyke has long been |
|
|
committed to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of |
|
|
others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A longtime Girl Scout leader, Ms. Van Dyke is a life |
|
|
member of the Heritage Society of Washington County and has helped |
|
|
to place more than 200 historic plaques in the area; in addition, |
|
|
she has served on the Brenham school board for 14 years and helped |
|
|
to restore the town's antique carousel; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sally Van Dyke's efforts have made her truly worthy |
|
|
of the recognition bestowed on her by her community, and it is a |
|
|
pleasure to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sally Van Dyke on being named 2008 |
|
|
Woman of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce/Economic Development Foundation and commend her for her |
|
|
dedication and service to her fellow residents; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Van Dyke as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
