R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mike Hopkins has been named 2008 Man of the Year by |
|
|
the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development |
|
|
Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created in 1968 to |
|
|
honor Washington County citizens who have made significant |
|
|
contributions to their community, and Mr. Hopkins has long been |
|
|
committed to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of |
|
|
others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable Texan is the owner of Mike Hopkins |
|
|
Distributing, through which he donated property for Washington |
|
|
County's new Emergency Medical Services facility; a valued resident |
|
|
of Brenham for more than 20 years, he is a founding member of the |
|
|
Texas Lyceum; he has also supported such worthwhile initiatives as |
|
|
Maifest and the Washington County Fair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The efforts of Mike Hopkins have made him truly |
|
|
worthy of the recognition bestowed on him by his community, and it |
|
|
is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Hopkins on being named 2008 |
|
|
Man of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce/Economic Development Foundation and commend him for his |
|
|
dedication and service to his fellow residents; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Hopkins as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
