R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Round Rock community lost a greatly beloved
  resident when Susan Carol Streit Blount passed away on June 25,
  2007, at the age of 54; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Taylor on February 5, 1953, Mrs. Blount
  graduated from Taylor High School and earned a degree from Stephen
  F. Austin State University; during college, she worked several
  summers at the Texas Lions Camp, a facility for children with
  disabilities, and the experience led her to a highly regarded
  career as a speech pathologist; and
         WHEREAS, The former Susan Streit was married to Larry Blount
  on May 22, 1976, and she became the mother of a son and daughter,
  Garrett and Rachel; her family meant the world to her, and she, to
  them; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Blount joined the Round Rock Independent School
  District in 1991 as a part-time substitute teacher, and she became
  the speech pathologist at Fern Bluff Elementary when that school
  opened in 1992; over the next 15 years, she won the hearts of her
  students through her empathy, patience, and encouragement as she
  helped them overcome their challenges, and she kept track of their
  progress long after they left her charge; and
         WHEREAS, This gifted teacher was equally valued by her
  colleagues, whose days were always brightened by her readiness to
  lend an ear, her ability to offer thoughtful counsel, and her
  delighted, infectious laughter; for all who knew her at Fern Bluff,
  whether they were staff, students, or parents, she was an elemental
  part of the school and its spirit; and
         WHEREAS, In her free time, Mrs. Blount enjoyed giving rein to
  her creative talents as a cook, gardener, and hostess; one of her
  great joys was the vacations she took with her family to such places
  as the Grand Canyon and the Gulf Coast; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Susan Blount's warmth,
  kindness, and irrepressible sense of fun drew people to her, and she
  in turn was forever reaching out to others; she always knew, as a
  student said, when something was wrong, and she would do whatever
  she could to help and comfort; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Blount was a valued
  member of her Sunday school class and the congregation at First
  United Methodist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Susan Blount approached life with a joyful zest and
  generosity of spirit that endeared her deeply to all who knew her,
  and she will be forever remembered and treasured by those who were
  blessed to be a part of her world; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Susan Carol Streit
  Blount and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her husband of 31 years, Larry Blount; to her children, Rachel and
  Garrett Blount; to her mother and stepfather, Mary Jo and Gerald
  Bolfing; to her brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Suzi Streit; to
  her stepbrothers and stepsisters, Jerry, John, and Michael Ann
  Bolfing and Patty Fulbright; to her stepsisters-in-law and
  stepbrother-in-law, Kim and Gailey Bolfing and Ed Fulbright; and to
  her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Susan Carol
  Streit Blount.
