R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lance Armstrong Foundation has opened a new |
|
headquarters in East Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, This facility will aid the foundation in its mission |
|
to provide resources and support to cancer patients and survivors; |
|
employing environmentally friendly design elements and constructed |
|
with a large amount of reused material, the headquarters is an |
|
outstanding example of sustainable architecture; and |
|
WHEREAS, Overseeing the building's construction was Doug |
|
Ulman, president and CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation; Mr. |
|
Ulman is a three-time cancer survivor and a well-known advocate for |
|
cancer research and treatment; he currently serves in such |
|
positions as chair of the consumer liaison group of the National |
|
Cancer Institute and as board member of the Ulman Cancer Fund for |
|
Young Adults, and he has received many honors for his diligent work |
|
in behalf of the foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lance Armstrong Foundation is doing an |
|
exceptional job of raising awareness, funding research, and |
|
connecting people and communities to combat cancer, and its |
|
presence in Austin is furthering the Lone Star State's prominence |
|
as a leader in the battle against this deadly disease; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Lance Armstrong Foundation on |
|
the opening of its new headquarters in Austin and commend Doug Ulman |
|
and the rest of the foundation staff for their numerous |
|
accomplishments; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
