R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The outstanding work of the Communications
  Department of the Pasadena Independent School District has been
  recognized with a number of awards by the Texas Schools Public
  Relations Association; and
         WHEREAS, At the 2009 convention of the nonprofit TSPRA, 900
  entries in 35 categories were submitted by communications
  professionals across the state for the annual Star Awards, and the
  talented staff of Pasadena ISD came away with an impressive 11 Gold
  Star Awards and two Best of Category awards; and
         WHEREAS, District personnel Bruce Stone and LaVonna
  Alexander-Carew won two Gold Stars and two Best of Category awards
  for designing the "Heroes" marketing mailer and a child nutrition
  calendar, while Ms. Carew earned another Gold Star for her design of
  the district's Winter Concert program; Mark Kramer received a Gold
  Star for his work on the Pinnacle newsletter, and Mr. Kramer, Mr.
  Stone, and Candace Ahlfinger won a Gold Star for their "Financial
  Focus for Student Success" brochure; and
         WHEREAS, Ashley Holt won two Gold Stars in the writing and
  published news categories, while Ms. Ahlfinger, Mr. Kramer, Mr.
  Stone, Ms. Carew, and Ms. Holt won a Gold Star in the booklet
  category for the "Heroes" mailer; Mr. Stone and Cindy Parmer
  received Gold Stars for the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation's
  Shining Stars Gala booklet and the Education Foundation's website;
  the communications staff also won Silver Star Awards in the
  computerized presentations category for both a recruiting video and
  a foundation e-card, as well as in the sports photo and external
  publication categories; and
         WHEREAS, With the expert support of the district's printing
  staff, the communications professionals of the Pasadena ISD do an
  excellent job of serving the local community; they have
  distinguished themselves as writers, editors, and designers, and
  they may take great pride in the recognition they have earned from
  their peers; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the staff of the Pasadena
  Independent School District Communications Department on the
  awards they received from the Texas Schools Public Relations
  Association and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Pasadena ISD communications staff as an expression
  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
