R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
by a great and enduring love, Courtney and Jay Smith of Midland |
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 21, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Smith first met in Fort Worth in 1955 |
|
and began dating in 1958; they were united in matrimony at First |
|
United Methodist Church in Weatherford in 1959; through the years, |
|
they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even |
|
richer with the addition of their children, Steven Eric Smith and |
|
his wife, Jeana, Shelley Lynne Hollums and her husband, Eddy, Joel |
|
David Smith and his wife, Kim, and Clayton Jay Smith and his wife, |
|
Susan; they have been further blessed by 13 grandchildren and 5 |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Smith is a semiretired landman, and Mrs. Smith |
|
retired from Burlington Resources in 2004; they have been residents |
|
of Midland since 1975; and |
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney and Jay Smith on their |
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Smith as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
