R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Michael Moore was honored by the Heritage of Odessa |
|
|
Foundation with a 2009 Community Statesman Award in recognition of |
|
|
his outstanding civic contributions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Every year for the past quarter-century, the |
|
|
Heritage of Odessa Foundation has paid tribute to individuals who |
|
|
have excelled in their various fields and in their public service |
|
|
endeavors; nominated by their fellow citizens and chosen by a |
|
|
special committee, the 13 recipients have volunteered their time |
|
|
and resources to support Odessa and its residents; in 2009, Michael |
|
|
Moore was selected for this accolade in the category of ranching; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moore has been involved in ranching for most of |
|
|
his life, including spending summers as a child on his |
|
|
grandparents' ranch in Crockett County; he married Holley Barrow in |
|
|
1994, and as a managing partner in Barrow Ranches, he has worked |
|
|
with family members to acquire additional ranches in Andrews |
|
|
County; Mr. Moore is a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle |
|
|
Raisers Association and the American Quarter Horse Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moore has demonstrated an unwavering commitment |
|
|
to his vocation and to the city of Odessa, and his compassion and |
|
|
generosity are an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Moore on his receipt of a |
|
|
2009 Community Statesman Award and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
