R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cynthia Wiehle was honored by the Heritage of Odessa
  Foundation with a 2009 Community Statesman Award in recognition of
  her outstanding civic contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Every year for the past quarter-century, the
  Heritage of Odessa Foundation has paid tribute to individuals who
  have excelled in their various fields and in their public service
  endeavors; nominated by their fellow citizens and chosen by a
  special committee, the 13 recipients have volunteered their time
  and resources to support Odessa and its residents; in 2009, Cynthia
  Wiehle was selected for this accolade in the category of the
  humanities; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has served on nearly every board
  in the city, including those of Catholic Charities, the
  Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, the United Way, the Permian
  Basin Rehabilitation Center, the Crystal Ball Foundation, and the
  American Cancer Society; in addition, Mrs. Wiehle was president of
  the Junior League, the Girl Scouts of the Permian Basin, the
  Education Foundation, and the Ellen Noel Art Museum, and she has
  been the chair of the National Kidney Foundation Gold Tournament,
  the Girl Scout Council Realignment Committee, the National Young
  Artist Competition, and Heritage Holiday; moreover, she has been
  recognized as Sustainer of the Year by the Junior League and as
  Volunteer of the Year by the Girl Scouts; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Wiehle has demonstrated an unwavering
  commitment to the city of Odessa and to many of its service
  organizations, and her compassion and generosity are an inspiration
  to all who know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Cynthia Wiehle on her receipt of a
  2009 Community Statesman Award and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Wiehle as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
