R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mike Adkins was honored by the Heritage of Odessa |
|
|
Foundation with a 2009 Community Statesman Award in recognition of |
|
|
his outstanding civic contributions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Every year for the past quarter-century, the |
|
|
Heritage of Odessa Foundation has paid tribute to individuals who |
|
|
have excelled in their various fields and in their public service |
|
|
endeavors; nominated by their fellow citizens and chosen by a |
|
|
special committee, the 13 recipients have volunteered their time |
|
|
and resources to support Odessa and its residents; in 2009, Mr. |
|
|
Adkins was selected for this accolade in the category of media; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A former sports reporter with Channel 9, Mr. Adkins |
|
|
now serves as director of communications for the Ector County |
|
|
Independent School District; he is also active in such local |
|
|
organizations as the United Way and Main Street Odessa, and he is a |
|
|
deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Assembly of God Church; in |
|
|
addition, he was president of the Kiwanis Club, and the group named |
|
|
him Kiwanian of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Adkins has demonstrated an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to his profession and to the city of Odessa, and his |
|
|
compassion and generosity are an inspiration to all who know him; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Adkins on his receipt of a |
|
|
2009 Community Statesman Award and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Adkins as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
