R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Corpus Christi is playing host to the 2009 Pan
  American Golf Association National Tournament and Convention,
  which takes place July 27 through 31, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, The crowning event of the PAGA schedule, the
  National Tournament and Convention returns to Corpus Christi this
  season for the first time in more than 10 years, and the event is
  especially meaningful for the host chapter; organized in 1951, the
  Corpus Christi PAGA chapter is the second oldest in the association
  and was founded just four years after the inaugural group in San
  Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, This year's National Tournament and Convention
  includes a special tribute to the women who instituted the National
  Ladies Auxiliary; that group convened its first meeting in Corpus
  Christi in 1976, and its officers included president Maggie
  Cagigal, first vice president Viola Trujillo, second vice president
  Librada Torres, recording secretary Martha Rosas, corresponding
  secretary Martha Espinoza, treasurer Aurora Romero, and historian
  Priscilla Torres; the 2009 national event also features special
  ceremonies in honor of the PAGA Hall of Fame inductees and the
  charter members of local PAGA chapters; and
         WHEREAS, A celebrated gathering of PAGA members from across
  the country, the National Tournament and Convention is truly a
  momentous occasion for this admirable organization, and it is a
  pleasure to join the PAGA members and sponsors in recognizing the
  event; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 Pan American Golf
  Association National Tournament and Convention in Corpus Christi
  and extend to all those taking part in the event sincere best wishes
  for an enjoyable and successful gathering; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Corpus Christi PAGA chapter as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
