R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Sajjadul Islam has been inducted into the Odessa
  Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, and this occasion provides a
  fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed professional; and
         WHEREAS, After earning a medical degree from Dhaka Medical
  College in Bangladesh, Dr. Islam completed an internship at
  Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau and a residency in diagnostic
  radiology through Brown University at the Rhode Island Hospital,
  where he was named chief resident; he also accepted a fellowship in
  neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology at The University
  of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and he later practiced
  medicine in New York; and
         WHEREAS, In 1984, Dr. Islam relocated to Odessa, and the
  following year, he launched the first MRI center in the region, West
  Texas Imaging Center; as its president and CEO, he has overseen the
  growth of the center from one machine and two employees to a staff
  of 16 and a range of modern equipment; in addition, Dr. Islam has
  served as a radiologist at Medical Center Hospital and Odessa
  Regional Medical Center and as chair of the radiology department at
  HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Midland; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Islam has remained active in the field of
  medicine as a member of numerous organizations, including the
  American Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North
  America, and the Texas Medical Association, and he received the
  Legacy of Caring Award from the Texas Medical Foundation; he is also
  involved in the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, the Pillars Club of the
  United Way, and the Education Foundation of the Ector County
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Dr. Islam has enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife of 30 years, Nasreen, their sons,
  Sameer, Shez, and Salman, their daughter-in-law, Ebtesam, and their
  granddaughter; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community and his profession, Dr.
  Islam has garnered the lasting respect and admiration of his fellow
  residents, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on his civic
  contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Sajjadul Islam on his 2009
  induction into the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Islam as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
