R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of Harold William Charles Nemky of San
  Antonio on September 3, 2008, at the age of 88, concluded an
  exemplary life of service to others; and
         WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio to Max and Alma Nemky on January
  22, 1920, Harold Nemky enjoyed the companionship of his brother,
  Milton, as he grew up; after graduating from Thomas Jefferson High
  School, he went on to earn a degree at Trinity University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Nemky served his country during World War II as a
  second lieutenant in the United States Navy, stationed on the USS
  Card CVE-11 aircraft carrier; and
         WHEREAS, An auditor by profession, Mr. Nemky built a notable
  career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company that spanned four
  decades; he further contributed to his community as a charter
  member of the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra and through his
  involvement with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Telephone
  Pioneers, VFW Post No. 9603, American Legion Post No. 2, the
  Homeowner Taxpayer Association of Bexar County, Jefferson Co-Op,
  and the Jefferson and Woodlawn Lake Neighborhood Associations; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Nemky and his beloved wife of 57 years,
  Marguerite, shared a rewarding marriage that was further enriched
  with the addition of three children and seven grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A kind and considerate man, Harold Nemky had an
  immeasurable impact on the lives of many people during his
  lifetime, and he will be remembered with deep affection and
  admiration by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold William
  Charles Nemky and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Marguerite Richter Nemky; to his daughters,
  Nancy Froelich and her husband, Joe, Martha Steele and her husband,
  David, and Carol Bordlemay and her husband, Paul; to his
  grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer Froelich, Natalie DeMik and her
  husband, Stephen, John and Paul Steele, and Travis and Jessica
  Buffkin; to his sister-in-law, Dr. Frances Swinny, and her husband,
  Bill; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold
  William Charles Nemky.
