R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The passing of Harold William Charles Nemky of San |
|
Antonio on September 3, 2008, at the age of 88, concluded an |
|
exemplary life of service to others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio to Max and Alma Nemky on January |
|
22, 1920, Harold Nemky enjoyed the companionship of his brother, |
|
Milton, as he grew up; after graduating from Thomas Jefferson High |
|
School, he went on to earn a degree at Trinity University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Nemky served his country during World War II as a |
|
second lieutenant in the United States Navy, stationed on the USS |
|
Card CVE-11 aircraft carrier; and |
|
WHEREAS, An auditor by profession, Mr. Nemky built a notable |
|
career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company that spanned four |
|
decades; he further contributed to his community as a charter |
|
member of the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra and through his |
|
involvement with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Telephone |
|
Pioneers, VFW Post No. 9603, American Legion Post No. 2, the |
|
Homeowner Taxpayer Association of Bexar County, Jefferson Co-Op, |
|
and the Jefferson and Woodlawn Lake Neighborhood Associations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Nemky and his beloved wife of 57 years, |
|
Marguerite, shared a rewarding marriage that was further enriched |
|
with the addition of three children and seven grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A kind and considerate man, Harold Nemky had an |
|
immeasurable impact on the lives of many people during his |
|
lifetime, and he will be remembered with deep affection and |
|
admiration by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold William |
|
Charles Nemky and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Marguerite Richter Nemky; to his daughters, |
|
Nancy Froelich and her husband, Joe, Martha Steele and her husband, |
|
David, and Carol Bordlemay and her husband, Paul; to his |
|
grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer Froelich, Natalie DeMik and her |
|
husband, Stephen, John and Paul Steele, and Travis and Jessica |
|
Buffkin; to his sister-in-law, Dr. Frances Swinny, and her husband, |
|
Bill; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold |
|
William Charles Nemky. |
