R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the untimely loss of
  Angel Antonio Acuna, who died on March 9, 2009, at the age of 44; and
         WHEREAS, Angel Acuna was born in San Antonio on March 6, 1965,
  to Abel Jose and Elba D. Acuna; he graduated from Roosevelt High
  School and attended St. Mary's University; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Acuna was a
  citizen soldier, serving 20 years in the 149th Squadron of the Texas
  Air National Guard; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Acuna served five years as a security officer
  with the Methodist Healthcare System; he also spent three years as a
  patrol officer with the University Health System and nine years
  with the St. Mary's University Police Department; most recently, he
  was an officer with the Alamo Heights Police Department; and
         WHEREAS, This experienced law enforcement professional was a
  TCLOSE-certified firearms instructor, as well as a certified Rape
  Aggression Defense instructor and a certified instructor for the
  International Police Mountain Bike Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Acuna shared his love of bicycling with local
  students, participating in the bike rodeos held by elementary
  schools in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, A loving husband and devoted father, Angel Acuna
  dedicated his life to his family and to the welfare of his
  community, and though he was taken much too soon, his remarkable
  spirit will stay forever in the hearts of all those who loved him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Angel Antonio Acuna
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:  to his
  wife, Deborah Lynn Acuna; to his daughters, Adriana D'Jenedie,
  Angel Ryan, and Alexis Rose; to his son, Adam Xavier; to his mother,
  Elba D. Acuna; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in honor of Angel
  Antonio Acuna.
