R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jesse R. Adams of San Antonio has served six years
  with the Texas Racing Commission, and his notable tenure stands as
  an example of outstanding public service; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Racing Commission oversees the racing
  industry in Texas to enforce the Texas Racing Act and to ensure the
  safety, integrity, and fairness of pari-mutuel racing in the state;
  Mr. Adams was appointed to the commission by Governor Rick Perry,
  and since his term began on May 16, 2003, he has fulfilled his
  duties with the utmost ability and dedication; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Adams earned
  his undergraduate degree in industrial engineering and pursued
  postgraduate training in real estate and senior property tax
  consulting; he gained valuable experience as senior vice president
  of J. H. Uptmore & Associates, a construction and real estate
  business, before starting his own company, Adams & Polunsky Ad
  Valorem Tax Advisors, Inc., in 1989, which he currently serves as
  president; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, he has also established Adams
  Land & Livestock and Apex Outdoor and shared his time with a number
  of professional associations, including the Real Estate Council of
  San Antonio and the Texas Association of Professional Tax
  Consultants; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Adams has served his community as a member of the
  Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Committee, the Planning Commission
  for the City of San Antonio, and the Department of Energy
  Conservation Task Force; he has further shared his time with the San
  Antonio Livestock Expo and the State Deceptive Trade Task Force;
  and
         WHEREAS, His myriad efforts have earned him such accolades as
  the James Campbell Legend Award and the title of Builder of the Year
  from the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, a group he has
  served as president; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Racing Commission has greatly benefited
  from the dedication and professionalism of Jesse Adams, and his
  commitment to his fellow citizens indeed merits special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Jesse R. Adams for his years of service to
  the Texas Racing Commission and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Adams as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
