R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Frank S.
  Adams of Corpus Christi, who died on February 14, 2009, at the age
  of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Frank Adams was born in Oklahoma on January 29,
  1927, to Lucille and Joyce B. Adams; he moved with his family to
  Corpus Christi in 1937; and
         WHEREAS, Following his graduation from Corpus Christi High
  School in 1943, Mr. Adams attended Texas A&M University, where he
  was a member of the Corps of Cadets; he later earned a degree in
  banking from Southern Methodist University; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty during World War
  II, Mr. Adams served with the U.S. Navy in Guam; after the war, Mr.
  Adams was joined in marriage to Lena Faye Gent in 1948, and over the
  years they were blessed with two children, four grandchildren, and
  two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Adams began his career in the used car business,
  serving as the finance manager of Lewis Boggus Ford; he then went on
  to a successful career in banking, working first with the Bank of
  Commerce and then American Bank; and
         WHEREAS, From 1971 to 1995, Mr. Adams was president of
  American Bank, and he continued serving the institution as a member
  of the board of directors until his retirement at age 80; he was an
  energetic and competitive banker, affectionately known as
  "Friendly Frank" to his colleagues and other associates; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Adams was also well known for the customer
  service seminars he conducted across the state, and he made those
  programs even more memorable by handing out silver dollars and
  American flag lapel pins to participants; he further shared his
  expertise by teaching at the Texas Tech University School of
  Banking and by serving as president and director of the Independent
  Bankers Association of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Despite his numerous professional responsibilities,
  Mr. Adams was engaged in his community as a member of the Jaycees,
  as an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and for many
  years as a member of the Nueces County Parks Board; in his leisure
  time, he enjoyed sharing stories with loved ones and fishing at his
  second home in Boerne; and
         WHEREAS, Frank Adams was well respected in his profession and
  beloved by his family and friends, and the memory of his warm and
  outgoing nature will forever be treasured by those whose lives he
  touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank S. Adams and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife
  of 60 years, Lena Faye Adams; to his son, Larry James Adams, and his
  wife, Katy; to his daughter, Sandra Joyce Adams; to his grandsons,
  Steven Craig Adams and his wife, Lise, David Patrick Adams and his
  wife, Staci, Alan Thomas Adams and his wife, Jessica, and Jack Trent
  Adams; to his great-grandchildren, Carter and Ellie Adams; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank S.
  Adams.
