R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chief Ron Shields of the Brownsboro Police
  Department exemplifies the highest ideals of the law enforcement
  profession and contributes immeasurably to the safety and
  well-being of his fellow Texans; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Parsons, Kansas, Ron Shields has brought
  to his career a wealth of experience, both as a veteran who served
  with distinction in the Army National Guard and as an effective
  manager, having owned his own business before his retirement;
  beginning a new chapter of his life, he went on to pursue a second
  career and became an accomplished law enforcement officer; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant is highly regarded by
  his peers and benefits his profession as an instructor with the East
  Texas Police Academy at Kilgore College; during his exceptional
  tenure with that institution, he has helped to train more than 500
  peace officers; and
         WHEREAS, Chief Shields demonstrates an enduring concern for
  the public welfare, earning the admiration of all who know him, and
  his myriad achievements have made Brownsboro an even better place
  in which to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Chief Ron Shields for his service to his
  country and community and commend him for his contributions to
  public safety; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Shields as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
