R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the
  passing of Ruben Villarreal Guerra of San Antonio on March 7, 2009,
  at the age of 93; and
         WHEREAS, Born on July 18, 1915, Ruby Villarreal left her
  native Piedras Negras, Mexico, for San Antonio during the Mexican
  Revolution; once she was old enough to work, she helped run a candy
  shop with her grandmother at the Progreso Theater, where she also
  worked as a ticket taker; and
         WHEREAS, She married Edmundo Guerra in 1938, and they became
  the parents of a daughter, Yolanda; when Mrs. Guerra's
  sister-in-law died in 1947, she and her husband took in the deceased
  woman's four children and raised them as their own; and
         WHEREAS, The couple worked hard to provide for a family that
  had suddenly grown larger; Mr. Guerra held down two jobs, while Mrs.
  Guerra devoted herself to taking care of the household; her
  nurturing guidance helped the young people to grow into responsible
  adults who distinguished themselves in a variety of fields; and
         WHEREAS, An admirable woman who always put others' needs
  before her own, Ruby Guerra was known for her kindness and
  generosity, and these qualities will long resonate in the hearts of
  her loved ones and all who were privileged to share in her company;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ruby Villarreal
  Guerra and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her nieces, Teresa Rodriguez and Janie Mora; to her nephews, Santos
  and Jesse Villarreal; to her son-in-law, Carmelo Rivas; to her
  three grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ruby
  Guerra.
