R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Bruce and Shirley Shoquist of Rockwall |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 19, 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shoquist met at Denison University in |
|
|
Ohio and were united in matrimony on that special day in 1958; |
|
|
through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that |
|
|
has been made even richer with the addition of four children, Sheri, |
|
|
Steve, Stacy, and Shannon, and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Todd, |
|
|
Macall, Corbin, Cody, Katie, and Knox; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Following his service as a lieutenant in the U.S. |
|
|
Marine Corps, Mr. Shoquist worked for 40 years in medical sales; |
|
|
Mrs. Shoquist taught 11th grade English for two decades before her |
|
|
retirement; they are active members of Lake Pointe Church in |
|
|
Rockwall and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and |
|
|
friends; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|
|
world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife |
|
|
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the |
|
|
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|
|
with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bruce and Shirley Shoquist on the |
|
|
occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shoquist as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
