R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Forest Lane Academy of the Richardson Independent |
|
|
School District was awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas |
|
|
Education Agency in 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from |
|
|
the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an |
|
|
accountability rating system for the state's public schools and |
|
|
districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if 75 percent of its |
|
|
students pass each of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills |
|
|
subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 percent of all schools |
|
|
earned this notable distinction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An elementary school, Forest Lane Academy serves |
|
|
approximately 600 students enrolled in prekindergarten through the |
|
|
sixth grade; through the years, the school has been recognized with |
|
|
five Superintendent's Medallions and two Superintendent's Gold |
|
|
Medallions; moreover, it was a TEA Recognized School in 2005-2006 |
|
|
and received a Texas Educator Excellence Grant in 2006; skillfully |
|
|
led by principal Pam Aitken with the assistance of Laurie Taylor and |
|
|
Olivia Salinas, the school's dedicated faculty members strive to |
|
|
meet the needs of all students by identifying and building on their |
|
|
individual strengths; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Forest Lane Academy |
|
|
have demonstrated outstanding dedication and perseverance in their |
|
|
pursuit of academic excellence, and they may indeed take |
|
|
justifiable pride in the accolade their school has received from |
|
|
the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Forest Lane Academy on its achievement of |
|
|
a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education Agency in 2008 and |
|
|
extend to its students, teachers, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
