R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Forest Lane Academy of the Richardson Independent
  School District was awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas
  Education Agency in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from
  the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an
  accountability rating system for the state's public schools and
  districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if 75 percent of its
  students pass each of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills
  subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 percent of all schools
  earned this notable distinction; and
         WHEREAS, An elementary school, Forest Lane Academy serves
  approximately 600 students enrolled in prekindergarten through the
  sixth grade; through the years, the school has been recognized with
  five Superintendent's Medallions and two Superintendent's Gold
  Medallions; moreover, it was a TEA Recognized School in 2005-2006
  and received a Texas Educator Excellence Grant in 2006; skillfully
  led by principal Pam Aitken with the assistance of Laurie Taylor and
  Olivia Salinas, the school's dedicated faculty members strive to
  meet the needs of all students by identifying and building on their
  individual strengths; and
         WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Forest Lane Academy
  have demonstrated outstanding dedication and perseverance in their
  pursuit of academic excellence, and they may indeed take
  justifiable pride in the accolade their school has received from
  the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Forest Lane Academy on its achievement of
  a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education Agency in 2008 and
  extend to its students, teachers, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
