R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mansfield Timberview High School girls' |
|
|
basketball team had an exceptional 2008-2009 season, making an |
|
|
impressive run through the University Interscholastic League |
|
|
playoffs to reach the 4A state championship game at the Frank Erwin |
|
|
Center in Austin on March 7; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Finishing with a record of 35 wins and just 4 losses, |
|
|
the Lady Wolves put together an impressive streak of 15 consecutive |
|
|
victories in the course of the season, including playoff triumphs |
|
|
over Fort Worth Trimble Tech, The Colony, Fort Worth Dunbar, |
|
|
Amarillo Palo Duro, and Arlington Seguin High Schools; in the state |
|
|
tournament, the Timberview squad bested Buda Hays High School, to |
|
|
earn a spot in the 4A title contest, where they fell to Waco Midway |
|
|
High School to finish as runner-up; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout the season, valuable contributions were |
|
|
made by each member of the Lady Wolves roster: Kristin Askew, Alysse |
|
|
Barlow, Maegan Conwright, Keya Roberson, Keena Mays, Chenale Smith, |
|
|
Sharral McGee, Briana Nickerson, Chanice Smith, Camille Redmon, |
|
|
Mary Adefolarin, Jaylan Hines, Jessica Sparrow, Breanna Alvarado, |
|
|
and Cree Conner; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mansfield Timberview team was ably guided by |
|
|
head coach Candi Harvey, who provided her players with the |
|
|
inspiration and know-how to stand with the best in the state; in |
|
|
addition, the Lady Wolves benefited from the advice of assistant |
|
|
coaches Lisa Branch, Dana Godfrey, Jessica Holley, and Tanya |
|
|
Richards; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The dedicated student-athletes of the Mansfield |
|
|
Timberview basketball team have earned the respect and admiration |
|
|
of their many supporters in the community, and the hard work and |
|
|
commitment to excellence that they demonstrated will serve them |
|
|
well in all of their future endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Mansfield Timberview girls' |
|
|
basketball team on its outstanding 2008-2009 season and extend to |
|
|
the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
