R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The third annual Oak Cliff Earth Day celebration is |
|
being held at Lake Cliff Park in Dallas on April 19, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding community event is coordinated by |
|
area volunteers, with generous sponsorship by the City of Dallas |
|
Parks Department; a wide array of garden, conservation, civic, |
|
government, and other groups will be represented at the festival, |
|
which is designed to promote environmental awareness and encourage |
|
citizens to become knowledgeable stewards of our planet; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 2008 Oak Cliff Earth Day featured 120 exhibitors |
|
and drew 6,000 attendees; in recognition of the excellent program |
|
planned for the occasion and the large number of people who |
|
participated, the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce honored the |
|
organizing committee for last year's event with its Quality of Life |
|
award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere have a vital stake in the health |
|
of our environment, and Oak Cliff Earth Day is helping to inform and |
|
motivate citizens in behalf of a most worthy cause, while fostering |
|
a deeper appreciation for the astonishing wonders of the natural |
|
world; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the celebration of Oak Cliff Earth |
|
Day 2009 and extend to all those associated with this stellar event |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Oak Cliff Earth Day Volunteer Committee as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
