R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Tommie |
|
Fay Holcomb Darby of Jacksonville, who died on March 20, 2009, at |
|
the age of 68; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Huntsville on August 6, 1940, to Jim and |
|
Virgie Holcomb, Tommie Fay Holcomb graduated from Jacksonville High |
|
School in 1958 in the top 10 of her class; that same year, she |
|
married Roy Darby, with whom she shared a rewarding relationship |
|
that spanned a half-century; the couple's life together was further |
|
enriched by the addition of their son, James, to their family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Darby was employed as a secretary at McElmurry |
|
Motors and Nichols Industry and went on to establish a notable |
|
21-year career with the Jacksonville Independent School District |
|
before her retirement; she was a charter member of Tabernacle |
|
Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Tommie Fay Darby lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all |
|
those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Tommie Fay Holcomb |
|
Darby and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: |
|
to her husband, Roy Darby; to her son, James Bryant Darby; to her |
|
sister, Ann Hughes; and to her other relatives and many friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommie Fay |
|
Darby. |
