R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of
  U.S. Army First Lieutenant Timothy Wayne Cunningham, who died on
  April 23, 2008, at the age of 26; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment,
  1st Combat Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division out of Fort
  Campbell, Kentucky, Lieutenant Cunningham lost his life as a result
  of injuries suffered during a vehicle incident in Golden Hills,
  Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Cunningham was born in Houston on January 22,
  1982, to John and Cindy Cunningham; after spending his early years
  in Houston, Hurst, and Rusk, he moved with his family to Alvin,
  where he graduated from high school; and
         WHEREAS, During his school years, this energetic and outgoing
  young Texan served on the student council, participated in track
  and baseball, and earned membership in the National Honor Society;
  the son of a Baptist minister, he was also extremely involved in
  church activities, volunteering in the community and traveling on
  mission trips to Brazil and Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cunningham attended Texas A&M on a Navy ROTC
  scholarship, serving as company chaplain; after a year, he decided
  to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, John, and entered
  the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he
  graduated in 2006 as a first lieutenant with a degree in nuclear
  engineering; and
         WHEREAS, That same year he married his high school
  sweetheart, the former Samantha Ann Morgenroth, and they were
  blessed with a daughter, Abigail, the following year; Lieutenant
  Cunningham went on to complete the Infantry Officer Basic Course
  and the Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia, before joining his
  brother in the 101st Airborne and deploying to Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his country, and his
  faith, Tim Cunningham will forever be remembered by all those who
  knew and loved him as a dedicated and compassionate young man who
  gave everything he had to everything he did; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of First Lieutenant
  Timothy Wayne Cunningham and extend sincere condolences to the
  members of his family: to his wife, Samantha Cunningham; to his
  daughter, Abigail Lynn Cunningham; to his parents, John and Cindy
  Cunningham; to his brother, Captain John David Cunningham, and his
  wife, Jamie Lynn; to his sisters, Christy Dawn, Sara Beth, and
  Kelsey Lynn Cunningham; to his grandparents, Wayne and Marian
  Cunningham and Edgar and Jean Jones; to his niece and nephew, Emily
  and T. J. Bolton; to his in-laws, Guy, Wanda, Dylan, Dakota, and
  Savannah Skinkis and Jonathan Morgenroth; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Timothy
  Wayne Cunningham.
