R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Blake Allen Fletcher of Tomball has |
|
rendered valiant service in Iraq as a member of the United States |
|
Army, and it is a pleasure to honor him while he is home in Texas on |
|
leave; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of State Representative Allen Fletcher and |
|
Penny Fletcher, Blake Fletcher entered the army in April 2007, and |
|
following more than a year of training, including air assault |
|
school, he deployed to Forward Operating Base Garry Owen, Iraq; he |
|
is assigned to the 988th Military Police Company, 2-7 Cavalry |
|
Division out of Fort Hood and is scheduled to complete his |
|
deployment in August 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Fletcher hopes to build on his military |
|
experience to pursue a career in law enforcement, fulfilling a |
|
long-held dream to follow in his father's footsteps; he began |
|
working toward this goal as a member of ROTC in high school, and he |
|
was recognized by the Tomball chapter of the VFW with the Top Gun |
|
medal for marksmanship; in addition, he is interested in attending |
|
airborne school and receiving training to work with canines; and |
|
WHEREAS, An outdoor enthusiast, Specialist Fletcher enjoys |
|
riding four-wheelers, hunting, and fishing, and in one hunting trip |
|
alone, shot a turkey, a deer, and a bobcat; moreover, he has been |
|
riding motorcycles since the age of 10; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his bravery, professionalism, and devotion |
|
to duty, Specialist Fletcher embodies the highest ideals of the |
|
United States Army, and he is indeed deserving of his fellow |
|
citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Specialist Blake Allen Fletcher for his |
|
exemplary service to his country and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Specialist Fletcher as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
