R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and Charles and Gwen Swearengen of Hurst
  celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on January 10,
  2009; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen met while they were
  attending Texas Christian University, and two years later the
  college sweethearts were joined in matrimony at a ceremony held at
  University Baptist Church; through the years, they have nurtured a
  fulfilling marriage and delight in their treasured family, which
  includes two daughters, Charlene Fitzgerald and her husband, C. J.,
  and Rachael Cox and her husband, Jon, as well as four grandchildren,
  J. T., David, Elizabeth, and Corbet; and
         WHEREAS, Residents of Hurst for 47 years and active
  congregants of First Methodist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen are
  both retired; Mrs. Swearengen enjoyed a career with the Birdville
  Independent School District, while Mr. Swearengen worked for
  Lockheed Martin; since 1983, Mr. Swearengen has served as a city
  council member, and he chairs the Finance and Investment Committee;
  he also served on the city's parks and recreation board for 18 years
  and is affiliated with the city's Crime Control District board of
  directors, the North Central Texas Council of Governments Resource
  Conservation Council, and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of
  Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared five decades of
  abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Gwen Swearengen on
  their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
