R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant First
  Class Raymond Munden suffered an immeasurable loss with the death
  of this valiant soldier on February 16, 2009, at the age of 35; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry
  Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division,
  Sergeant Munden was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan;
  and
         WHEREAS, An alumnus of Mesquite High School, Raymond Munden
  fulfilled a lifelong dream after his 1991 graduation when he joined
  the military; despite the dangerous nature of his mission, he
  remained devoted to serving his country throughout multiple tours
  in Iraq and Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Munden was a loving husband to his wife,
  Kelly, and a devoted father to his children, Gaven, Garrett,
  Sydney, and Kailey; his family had eagerly anticipated his
  stateside return, scheduled for March, when he was to assume a
  training assignment at West Point; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering
  reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant Raymond Munden embodied the
  highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and
  loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant
  Raymond Munden and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his
  wife, Kelly Munden; to his children, Gaven, Garrett, Sydney, and
  Kailey Munden; to his mother and stepfather, Billie and Dwaine
  Clark; to his father, Ralph Munden; to his brother, Brad Munden; and
  to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant
  Munden.
