R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant First |
|
Class Raymond Munden suffered an immeasurable loss with the death |
|
of this valiant soldier on February 16, 2009, at the age of 35; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry |
|
Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, |
|
Sergeant Munden was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, An alumnus of Mesquite High School, Raymond Munden |
|
fulfilled a lifelong dream after his 1991 graduation when he joined |
|
the military; despite the dangerous nature of his mission, he |
|
remained devoted to serving his country throughout multiple tours |
|
in Iraq and Afghanistan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Munden was a loving husband to his wife, |
|
Kelly, and a devoted father to his children, Gaven, Garrett, |
|
Sydney, and Kailey; his family had eagerly anticipated his |
|
stateside return, scheduled for March, when he was to assume a |
|
training assignment at West Point; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant Raymond Munden embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|
loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant |
|
Raymond Munden and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his |
|
wife, Kelly Munden; to his children, Gaven, Garrett, Sydney, and |
|
Kailey Munden; to his mother and stepfather, Billie and Dwaine |
|
Clark; to his father, Ralph Munden; to his brother, Brad Munden; and |
|
to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant |
|
Munden. |
