R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the |
|
passing of Julia Louise Pratka of Houston on March 27, 2009, at the |
|
age of 91; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1917, to Frank and Mary Welder |
|
Gay, "Connie" Gay grew up in Dayton, Texas, and graduated from St. |
|
Joseph School of Nursing in 1939; she married Alfred Joseph Pratka |
|
and the couple raised a family that grew to include four sons and a |
|
daughter, Al, James, Gregg, Chris, and Patricia; and |
|
WHEREAS, This beloved wife and mother loved to read, travel, |
|
and study geography; an active and faithful member of the St. Anne |
|
Catholic community, she also enjoyed spending weekends in Galveston |
|
and sharing stories of her family's history with her loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Connie Pratka is deeply missed, those she |
|
leaves behind will forever hold dear their many fond memories of |
|
her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Julia Louise Pratka |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
children, Al Pratka, Jr., and his wife, Joan, Patricia Pratka |
|
Womack and her husband, Gene, Gregg Pratka and his wife, Sharon, and |
|
Chris Pratka and his wife, Trish; to her 13 grandchildren and 13 |
|
great-grandchildren; to her sister, Margaret Patricia O'Connor; |
|
and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Connie |
|
Pratka. |
