R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Business and civic leader Gene Allen of Kerrville |
|
was appointed to the Texas Funeral Service Commission by Governor |
|
Rick Perry in February 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Serving a six-year term that will end in 2015, |
|
Mr. Allen will help to oversee the licensing of funeral directors |
|
and embalmers; members of the commission also enforce compliance |
|
with state regulations concerning funeral homes, cemeteries, and |
|
crematories; and |
|
WHEREAS, After 20 years in the oil and gas industry in West |
|
Texas, Mr. Allen began working in the funeral industry in |
|
Levelland; he took ownership of the Kerrville Funeral Home in 2001; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding professional has served as |
|
president of the Hill Country Funeral Directors Association and |
|
director of the South Central Region of the Texas Funeral Directors |
|
Association; he has also served on the membership resource |
|
committee of the National Funeral Directors Association, and he is |
|
a member of the Funeral Ethics Association, the American Society of |
|
Embalmers, and the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen also has a distinguished history of |
|
service to his community; he was a Levelland city councilman for |
|
three terms, and in Kerrville he has served as president of the |
|
Kerrville Host Lions Club and as a board member of the Haven in the |
|
Texas Hill Country Alzheimer's care center, the K'Star Youth |
|
Shelter, and the Hill Country chapter of the American Red Cross, |
|
among other organizations; and |
|
WHEREAS, The oversight of the funeral industry in Texas |
|
relies on the service of dedicated and public-spirited individuals, |
|
and Gene Allen has long proven himself to be an outstanding member |
|
of his profession and a leader in his community; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Allen on his appointment to |
|
the Texas Funeral Service Commission and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
