R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gene Rush is retiring as Hockley County auditor in
  2009, drawing to a close a career with county government that has
  spanned more than two decades; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Levelland, Mr. Rush enjoyed a varied
  career before he was hired as county auditor in 1987; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary 22-year tenure, Mr.
  Rush has distinguished himself as Hockley County's chief financial
  recordkeeper and compliance officer; he has been responsible for
  the oversight of the books and records of all county departments and
  officials and for enforcing the laws governing county finances; in
  fulfilling his duties, he has earned the respect and admiration of
  his colleagues and the public; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Rush's dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of
  Hockley County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career
  well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Rush on his retirement as
  Hockley County auditor and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Rush as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
