R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of The Woodlands High School Highsteppers |
|
|
drill team have excelled in national competition, and the team |
|
|
earned grand champion honors at the Champion National Dance/Drill |
|
|
Team Competition held on March 7, 2009, in Orlando, Florida; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Highsteppers outperformed teams from 10 states |
|
|
to earn the title; the group received a standing ovation from the |
|
|
judges and the highest all-around score, the first perfect 100 in |
|
|
the company's contest history, and was named best in class and |
|
|
category in prop, kick, and open routines; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2008-2009 team has been ably led by officers |
|
|
Kylie Phillips, Alicia Capps, Erin Talley, Sarah Amelunke, Kaileigh |
|
|
Kurtain, Shelby Fancher, Mary Pennington, Megan Senger, Lauren |
|
|
McDougall, and Megan Bundy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Woodlands High School Highsteppers have |
|
|
demonstrated great commitment, strength, and talent in their |
|
|
preparation for this prestigious event, and it is indeed |
|
|
appropriate that they be commended for their achievements; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School |
|
|
Highsteppers on being named Grand Champions at the Champion |
|
|
National Dance/Drill Team Competition and extend to all those |
|
|
involved with the group best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for The Woodlands High School Highsteppers as an |
|
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
