R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Woodlands High School boys' cross-country team
  reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 2008 University
  Interscholastic League 5A state championship on November 15, 2008,
  at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock; and
         WHEREAS, In winning their third consecutive state title and
  the 15th in school history, the Highlanders were paced by senior
  Reed Connor, the Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner of the
  Year, who was the overall individual champion; other athletes who
  contributed to the team's victory were Drew Butler, Landon Milhorn,
  Tom Sanderson, Nathan Carbajal, Tyler Bradley, and Ross Moulder;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Woodlands High School runners were guided to
  championship glory by head coach Dan Green, who is retiring on a
  high note after 33 seasons at the helm of The Woodlands; he finishes
  his cross-country coaching career with 31 district titles and 26
  regional titles to his credit, in addition to the 15 state
  championships; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state title represents the culmination of
  countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
  excellence, and these talented student-athletes may take
  justifiable pride in their remarkable accomplishment; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School boys'
  cross-country team on winning the 2008 UIL 5A state championship
  and extend to the runners, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
