R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' cross-country team of The Woodlands High
  School captured the 2008 University Interscholastic League 5A state
  championship with an exceptional performance at the state meet on
  November 15, 2008, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock; and
         WHEREAS, The triumph brought the school its second girls' 
  cross-country team title and the first since 1989; leading the way
  for the Highlanders was junior Sarah Andrews, the meet's individual
  champion; other runners who contributed to the state championship
  victory were Samantha Thompson, Shawn Dalglish, Colleen Murray,
  Margo Lyons, Shelby Hayes, and Taylor Wiseman; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Noel Hansen, these
  talented student-athletes truly lived up to the team's season
  motto, "Finish Strong," and they will cherish their memories of
  this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School girls'
  cross-country team on winning the 2008 UIL 5A state championship
  and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
