| WHEREAS, The girls' cross-country team of The Woodlands High | ||
| School captured the 2008 University Interscholastic League 5A state | ||
| championship with an exceptional performance at the state meet on | ||
| November 15, 2008, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The triumph brought the school its second girls' | ||
| cross-country team title and the first since 1989; leading the way | ||
| for the Highlanders was junior Sarah Andrews, the meet's individual | ||
| champion; other runners who contributed to the state championship | ||
| victory were Samantha Thompson, Shawn Dalglish, Colleen Murray, | ||
| Margo Lyons, Shelby Hayes, and Taylor Wiseman; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Noel Hansen, these | ||
| talented student-athletes truly lived up to the team's season | ||
| motto, "Finish Strong," and they will cherish their memories of | ||
| this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School girls' | ||
| cross-country team on winning the 2008 UIL 5A state championship | ||
| and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes | ||
| for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
