R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Liz Adetiba of James L. Coble Middle School in
  Arlington took first place honors in the 2009 Fort Worth
  Star-Telegram Regional Spelling Bee; and
         WHEREAS, An eighth-grader at the school, this talented
  14-year-old had already won the JCMS Spelling Bee in January and the
  Area 11 Spelling Bee in February; in 2006, when she was 11, she went
  all the way to the national competition; and
         WHEREAS, Miss Adetiba competed against 31 students from area
  schools in a tough contest that lasted 29 rounds, the highest number
  of rounds in the bee's recent history; she prevailed throughout by
  correctly spelling such words as "sorghum," "estuary," "tillage,"
  "reticulated," and "alexia"; and
         WHEREAS, After 3 hours and 285 words, Miss Adetiba triumphed
  by correctly spelling "impetigo," and her victory qualifies her to
  participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in
  Washington, D.C.; and
         WHEREAS, Miss Adetiba's ability, determination, and poise
  under pressure are impressive, and she may indeed look forward to a
  future that is bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Liz Adetiba on winning the 2009
  Fort Worth Star-Telegram Regional Spelling Bee and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Miss Adetiba as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
