R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Liz Adetiba of James L. Coble Middle School in |
|
Arlington took first place honors in the 2009 Fort Worth |
|
Star-Telegram Regional Spelling Bee; and |
|
WHEREAS, An eighth-grader at the school, this talented |
|
14-year-old had already won the JCMS Spelling Bee in January and the |
|
Area 11 Spelling Bee in February; in 2006, when she was 11, she went |
|
all the way to the national competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Miss Adetiba competed against 31 students from area |
|
schools in a tough contest that lasted 29 rounds, the highest number |
|
of rounds in the bee's recent history; she prevailed throughout by |
|
correctly spelling such words as "sorghum," "estuary," "tillage," |
|
"reticulated," and "alexia"; and |
|
WHEREAS, After 3 hours and 285 words, Miss Adetiba triumphed |
|
by correctly spelling "impetigo," and her victory qualifies her to |
|
participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in |
|
Washington, D.C.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Miss Adetiba's ability, determination, and poise |
|
under pressure are impressive, and she may indeed look forward to a |
|
future that is bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Liz Adetiba on winning the 2009 |
|
Fort Worth Star-Telegram Regional Spelling Bee and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Miss Adetiba as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
