R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Steven Joseph Hemberger, a senior at Earl Warren
  High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar
  finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program;
  and
         WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National
  Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who
  score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying
  Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Donald and Brenda Trevino Hemberger, this
  outstanding young Texan participates in several extracurricular
  activities; he is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor
  society and the National Honor Society as well as the Warren
  Thespian Society and the Interact Club, a community service
  organization at Warren High; moreover, he has been part of the
  school's University Interscholastic League One-Act Play program
  and played on the varsity football team; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hemberger has garnered several accolades over
  the course of his scholastic career, having been named an English
  Scholar and having earned the W Award during each of his four years
  at Warren; a dedicated student, he has earned a 4.0 grade point
  average, and he plans to further his education by studying biology
  in college; and
         WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his
  life, Steven Hemberger may indeed reflect with pride on his
  numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright
  and promising future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Steven Hemberger on his selection
  as a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic
  Recognition Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hemberger as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
