R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Valerie Garza, a senior at Earl Warren High School |
|
in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the |
|
2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and |
|
WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National |
|
Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who |
|
score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying |
|
Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Valdemar Garza III, this outstanding |
|
young Texan has long been involved in extracurricular activities, |
|
having competed on the Warren High volleyball and cross-country |
|
teams and been an active member of the Girl Scouts of America; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Garza has further distinguished herself as a |
|
National English Scholar and as a member of the National Honor |
|
Society; a dedicated student, she has earned an impressive grade |
|
point average of 95.0, and she plans to continue her education at |
|
St. Mary's University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in her |
|
life, Valerie Garza may indeed reflect with pride on her numerous |
|
accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and |
|
promising future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Valerie Garza on her selection as a |
|
scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition |
|
Program and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
