R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Esteban Hinojosa, a senior at Communications Arts |
|
|
High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar |
|
|
finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National |
|
|
Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who |
|
|
score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying |
|
|
Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Nancy Hinojosa, this outstanding young |
|
|
Texan has been involved in a number of extracurricular activities; |
|
|
he is an accomplished student-athlete, competing as a member of the |
|
|
Communications Arts varsity soccer team, on which he has served as |
|
|
captain, and as a member of the varsity cross-country squad; he has |
|
|
also distinguished himself as a member of his school's science team |
|
|
in UIL competition, and he is a senior mentor and a member of the |
|
|
student council, the National Honor Society, and the Spanish |
|
|
National Honor Society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa has garnered several distinctions |
|
|
throughout his scholastic career, including selection as a Hispanic |
|
|
National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with honors, and homecoming |
|
|
king; he has also earned an exceptional grade point average of |
|
|
100.18, and he plans to further his education at the Massachusetts |
|
|
Institute of Technology or Stanford University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his |
|
|
life, Esteban Hinojosa may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|
|
numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright |
|
|
and promising future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Esteban Hinojosa on his selection |
|
|
as a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic |
|
|
Recognition Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
