R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew Sanchez, a senior at Communications Arts |
|
High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar |
|
finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National |
|
Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who |
|
score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying |
|
Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Cynthia Sanchez, this outstanding young |
|
Texan participates in many extracurricular activities; he is a |
|
member of the Film Club, the Junior Engineering Technical Society, |
|
and the school teams for the University Interscholastic League math |
|
and science competitions; moreover, he has served as treasurer and |
|
concertmaster of the school orchestra, contributed to the Bob Beard |
|
Elementary School Carnival, and donated his time as a caregiver for |
|
the disabled, among other pursuits; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez has garnered several distinctions in his |
|
academic career, including gold medals for solo and ensemble |
|
orchestral performance and admission into the Region 11 and Texas |
|
Honor Orchestras; a member of the National Honor Society, he has |
|
earned a notable grade point average of 94.0 and plans to further |
|
his education at Texas A&M University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his |
|
life, Matthew Sanchez may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous |
|
accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and |
|
promising future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Sanchez on his selection as |
|
a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition |
|
Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
