R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the
  passing of Clester Ray Moore of Kountze on February 13, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, "Buddy" Moore was a longtime resident of Kountze and
  an admired newspaperman who entered the business as an apprentice
  at the age of 12; he began writing his trademark column, "Sports
  Galore, by C. R. Moore," just two years later; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan worked at several newspapers,
  including the Orange Leader, the Houston Post, and the Augusta
  Chronicle in Georgia, and he also created the paper that would
  become the Hardin County News; his true passion in publishing was
  the Kountze News, which he bought in 1974; under his guidance, the
  paper helped focus widespread attention on his beloved hometown by
  promoting tourism events, advocating for local causes, and
  publishing quirky and entertaining stories that delighted its
  readers; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Moore enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Jeanie, with whom he raised a loving family
  that grew to include two children and a grandchild; and
         WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of
  one man's life, some individuals leave their unmistakable mark on
  the world as they move through it, and Buddy Moore had an enduring
  influence on the Kountze community that continues to resonate among
  the city's residents; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clester Ray Moore and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Jeanie; to his daughters, Cherrye and her husband, Peppe, and
  Charlee; to his grandson, Cole; to his brother, Jack, and his wife,
  Peggy; to his in-laws, Ernest and Shirley Cherry, Debra Alegre and
  her husband, Butch, Catherine Manshack, Monese Odom and her
  husband, Randy, Scottie and his wife, Pam, and Ernest Cherry, Jr.;
  and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Buddy
  Moore.
